You can export a Project or Topic as a file and import it later to reuse the same content in another Project or account.
Export files include your content structure and selected settings, but do not include Players or their activity.
Supported files
You can import:
.gametizefiles.jsonfiles
The maximum file size is 5 MB.
Exported files use the .gametize format.
Who can import and export
Import and export tools are available to:
- Project Owners
- Project Administrators
Moderators and User Managers cannot use these tools.
Exporting a Project
To export a Project:
- Open the relevant Project.
- Select Tools.
- Locate the Export section.
- Select Export Project.
- Select Download Export File.
The downloaded file can be used later to recreate the Project's supported content and settings.
Exporting a Topic
To export a single Topic:
- Open the Topic.
- Select Tools.
- Locate the Export section.
- Select Export Topic.
- Select Download Export File.
A Topic file contains that Topic and its supported Content.
Importing into a new Project
When creating a Project, select the option to import a Project file and upload your .gametize or .json file.
The new Project will be created using the supported content and settings contained in the file.
Importing into an existing Project
You can also import content into an existing Project.
- Open the Project.
- Select Tools.
- Select Import Project.
- Upload the file.
Imported Topics and Content are added to the Project.
Your existing Topics, Content, and Player activity are not replaced or removed.
What is included in a Project export
A Project export can include:
- Project title and description
- Project banner and background images
- Selected Project settings
- Community title, description, banner, and background
- Topics and their Content
- Challenges and Flashcards
- Quiz options and Form fields
- Topic and Content unlocking rules
- Rewards and Reward settings
- Achievements
- Maps and hotspots
- Custom Project email templates
- Supported images associated with the exported content
Images are copied into the destination account during import.
What is not included
Project files do not include:
- Players or Teams
- Player progress or completion history
- Player points or balances
- Leaderboards
- Player activity history
- Alerts and announcements
- Scheduled publish or expiry dates
- Categories or labels
- Home screen carousels or widget slides
- Team settings
- Voucher code lists for Code Rewards
These should be configured separately after importing where required.
Importing a Topic file
A Topic export contains the selected Topic and its supported Content.
Topic files can be imported into an existing Project through Tools > Import Project.
The imported Topic is added alongside the Project's existing Topics.
New Project vs existing Project
When importing as a new Project, supported Project settings, Topics, Content, Rewards, Achievements, and Maps are created from the file.
When importing into an existing Project, the import adds new Topics and supported content without changing the existing Project's title, description, appearance, or existing Topics.
What to check after importing
After an import, review the following:
Published status
Topics and Content retain their supported publish settings from the file.
Imported Rewards, Achievements, and Maps may need to be published before Players can see them.
Scheduled publishing
Scheduled publish and expiry dates are not imported.
Set these again if the imported content requires a schedule.
Images
Imported images are copied into the destination account and are no longer linked to the original Project.
Unsupported or skipped items
Some items may not be imported and may need to be recreated manually.
For example, Scale Challenges and API Challenges are not imported as functional Challenges.
Unlocking rules
Unlocking rules that reference other content within the same exported file are reconnected automatically where possible.
Rules that depend on content outside the file may need to be configured again.
Important notes
Deleting or changing the original Project after export does not change content that has already been imported elsewhere.
Importing into an existing Project does not replace the Project's current Topics or Player activity.
For Code Rewards, the Reward settings are included, but voucher codes must be uploaded again separately.
