How to enable geolocation for your Enterprise Platform

To support geolocation tagging to your challenges and enable map views on your apps, the Gametize Platform provides Google Maps integration out of the box. But to enable it, you must provide us with your Google Maps API key.

Google Maps remains one of the most popular, cost-effective solutions for maps APIs, and Gametize utilizes it for geocoding and maps display. This article will show you how to power up your challenges with location features on your Gametize Platform set-up.

To begin, you need to own a Google Cloud API account.

How many API keys do I need?

You need up to 3 API keys, depending on the number of mobile platforms you are running on.

1 website API key (Shared by the Admin Panel and Player website)
1 iOS app API key
1 Android app API key

How do I set up an API Key?

After signing up for your Google Cloud API account, you will first need to create a new Cloud Project.

Creating a New Cloud Project

On the project selector page in the Google Cloud Console, click New Project.
Enter your project details as follows.

Creating API Keys

You may create and manage API keys in the "Credentials" section of your Cloud Project.
Click on "Add Credentials" and select "API Key" from the dropdown selection.
An API key will be generated for you.
To keep better track of your API keys, you are recommended to give your API keys clear, descriptive titles. You may then proceed to set up the application restrictions for your API key (see Appendix).
