Why we do not recommend uploading images larger than 1MB?

Our platform allows you to create a game that can be accessed via web and mobile. Unfortunately, not all mobile phones are built the same.

While new mobile phone models with faster processors are released all the time, older mobile phones with slower processors and low memory still exist, and may still be utilized by your players. 

While the Gametize platform compresses images that are uploaded via the Admin Dashboard, the resulting image may still be large enough to crash these phones, or cause slow loading on phones that are using mobile data (depending on location). This leads to a sub-optimal experience for your players.

This is especially the case for PNG images with transparency or animated GIFs which tend to result in very large file sizes due to the amount of data.

This is why we recommend you compress your images before uploading to reduce the chances of app crashes due to large image file sizes.
