Admins, are you inviting new Players to your Project? Read this!
Let’s get the terminologies out of the way - we refer to new Players as those who do not have an account with Gametize.com, i.e. brand new to the platform.
Admins, if you’ve been using the function to invite Players to your Project prior to this update, you may recall that Player accounts created via this method are activated automatically. And Players only receive 1 email notification - the Project invitation which contains the Project link and a randomly generated unique password for their first login.
There’s an update to that! As part of our efforts to further enhance the validity and security of user accounts, we now (effective as of November 2020) require Players with newly created accounts (through Admins’ invite to Project) to proactively activate their own accounts. Meaning, their accounts are no longer activated automatically.
So, what’s the impact for Admins when inviting new Players to your Project? Nothing has changed - the way you invite remains the same. However, you might want to communicate with your Players on what they can expect:
- They will receive 2 email notifications from Gametize - one to activate their account, another being the Project invitation.
- Players will have to first activate their accounts.
- Then will they be able to log in to their account using the randomly generated unique password provided in the Project invitation.
- After their first login, they will be required to change their password.
To help you along, we’ve drafted a template announcement. Feel free to adopt it!
