[FEATURE UPDATE] More SSO options for Players! Sign in with Apple on Gametize iOS app

We’re expanding single-sign-on on the Player apps! Players on the Gametize iOS app are now able to sign in using your Apple ID. There are a couple of options if you choose to sign in with Apple. 

(1) You can choose to share your email address associated with the Apple ID

This would make your email address visible to Gametize and to Project Admins of the Projects that you have joined. This allows us to easily identify you and reduce hassle on account security matters such as password reset or account deletion. 

(2) You can choose to hide your email address associated with the Apple ID

Your email address will not be visible to Gametize or Project Admins. Rather, a unique, random email address will be assigned to your account - for example, js385uq9cd34@privaterelay.appleid.com.

There are many functions on the Gametize platform which rely on the sending of email notifications - and this requires a valid email address. You may then ask - if you opt to have your email address hidden, how will you receive those notifications? The unique, random email address functions like a ‘messenger’, forwarding notifications to your personal email address associated with the Apple ID (learn more here). 

Be it if you choose to share or hide your email address associated with the Apple ID, the experience during subsequent app logins will be the same - quick and seamless!

FAQ: What if the email address associated with the Apple ID is the same as an existing Gametize account? 

Well… you are already half-way done with signing in with Apple. All you need to do is select “Sign in with Apple” on the app login screen and we will sync your accounts automatically! You will retain all activities and data associated with the account and be able to continue interacting with the app. Caveat: this is only if you chose to share your email address during the sign-in process. 

However, if you’ve got an existing account with an email address the same as your Apple ID, AND if you choose to hide your email address as you sign in with Apple, we are not able to recognize them to be the same email address (remember the randomly assigned email ID?). Instead of syncing the accounts, a new account will be created.
