[Dashboard Home] Color Contrasts, Information Hierarchy of New Sidebar

Based on feedback from the 14 December 2018 workshop, the new sidebar has not been too welcoming for newcomers to use yet.
The feedback received seems to be indicate the sense of being "overwhelmed" when viewing the sidebar. The sidebar was originally designed to be a one-stop shop for navigation, but the eyes of the participants were frequently drawn to common links at the bottom of the sidebar, such as Billing, Invoices, Back to Gametize Home and Logout.
While considered "common links", these links are unlikely to be clicked as often as ones for navigating between Projects, Topics, Challenges and their corresponding Tools and Analytics.
Suggestion
One suggestion from the participants was introducing greater contrasts (in color), to draw the attention towards the navigational links as opposed to the "common" ones.
- This can be tricky given the varying hierarchies within the current sidebar. It is unlikely that modifying font sizes for each hierarchy will draw much attention away and towards desired links or CTAs. Additionally, introducing new colors will interfere with existing branding guidelines, or worse create more confusion over the different color schemes.
An internal proposition is setting up a secondary menu to the right of top navigational bar. Within these secondary menus, the "common" links will be housed, including Profile settings and Logout actions.
Thus, the original sidebar will be stripped of such "common" links, keeping its design strictly for navigating between Projects, Topics, Challenges and their Tools and Analytics.

We have recently introduced a couple of changes to the Admin Dashboard:
- Split of Project-related and Account-related options to the left and right sidebars
- Breadcrumbs in the top bar

One of the problems I face is the lack of obviousness when the links on the sidebar. The color schemes are all exactly the same pink, no matter the hierarchy, context, and name vs function.

I would also like to propose reintroducing breadcrumbs to enable easier navigation between Project Managers, Topic Manager, and Challenge Manager (btw the name is not used at all, and instead it is called Edit Challenge or Edit Flashcard.
