Gametize: Ensuring FERPA Compliance for Student Data Privacy

In our commitment to providing a safe and secure environment for educational institutions and their students, we want to shed light on how Gametize complies with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

WHAT IS FERPA?

FERPA, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, is a federal law granting parents the authority to access their children's educational records, request amendments to these records, and manage the release of personally identifiable information. Upon a student turning 18 or enrolling in postsecondary education, FERPA rights shift from parents to the designated "eligible student." The FERPA statute is located at 20 U.S.C. § 1232g, with corresponding regulations in 34 CFR Part 99.

GAMETIZE ON AWS

Our solution is hosted on Amazon Web Services and our data and privacy team is constantly improving on best practices to secure student data privacy such as complying with encryption standards. PRIVACY

All personal information and educational records are proprietary and belong to the client and its students. We strictly do not disclose any information unless required by law or a binding order. In such instances, we will attempt to direct the request to the client. Where this avenue is unavailable to us, we will inform the client with reasonable lead time to allow for other measures to be taken if and where necessary, unless we are legally prohibited from doing so.
